The Story of Magners: An Irish Legacy Since 1935

Magners’ origins are proudly Irish. Its story is one of tradition and passion for quality cider.

It all began in 1935 in Clonmel, County Tipperary, when William Magner set out to create the finest cider in the world. Using a cider press and apples sourced from over 100 local farmers, he established the recipe that is still followed to this day.

The popularity of his cider grew so much that William partnered with the English firm H.P. Bulmer. This agreement allowed the cider to be sold in Ireland under the name “Bulmers”. However, when the time came to introduce this magnificent cider to the rest of the world, the name could not be used outside Ireland. In honour of its founder, the name Magners was adopted for international distribution.
