Guinness is an Irish beer brand that has become an icon of the country. Its most famous variant is stout dry black beer. The first time this beer was made, it was on the part of Arthur Guinness in 1759 , who gives the name to the brand . The elaboration is based on the porter style.

One of the keys to the colorbody and flavor of this Irish beer is the roasted barley that remains unfermented. The most important characteristics of this beer are its black color and its foam.

Guinness beer and its foam, two inseparable elements

Foam Guinness is achieved by the nitrogen. Usually, CO2 is used to get that white layer that is on top of our beer. But in this case the nitrogen is added to get, moreover, more density in the product. For example, in the canned version, Guinness manufacturers have developed and patented a kind of ball that contains nitrogen and causes more foam to be produced.

There are different products beyond black Guinness beer, but it has always been the most iconic. Both the original and the Draft, which is the one that is usually sold both in barrel and in can format in supermarkets in Spain.

Guinness has 4.2 degrees of alcohol, so it is not one that represents percentage. The Guinness Draft is made up of water, barley, malt, hops and yeast. The malted barley undergoes a light processing that makes the beer have that color and that characteristic flavor.

Although it may seem that it is a heavy drink because of its texture and density, it only has 198 kcal per pint glass, which is less than a glass of skimmed milk or an orange juice.

There are more variants, such as the Guinness Blonde beer , the original ,  Foreign Extra Stout Dublin Porter West Indies Porter Golden Ale Hop House 13 Lager Blonde American Lager Nitro Ipa or  Special Export .

And besides, its not only a  you can take drink, it can also be used in desserts such as cakes, cocktails, sauces, and in many more other contexts.  As an example, here we leave you a cake recipe with Guinness beer .
